One of the most important factors in successful rehabilitation is the patient’s own involvement in the process. The patients who tend to thrive are those who remain engaged, practice their exercises consistently, and communicate openly with their care team about what they’re experiencing.
Rehabilitation takes time, and progress often happens gradually. Some days may feel slower than others, but consistent effort can lead to significant improvement over time.
For anyone who is early in the limb loss journey, it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed by the many decisions that come with recovery, including choosing the right rehab path. My advice is to focus on building a supportive care team and taking the process one step at a time. With the right guidance and commitment, many patients go on to achieve far more mobility and independence than they initially imagined.
